BANDIPORA, JULY 10: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA), awareness programmes under the theme “Maa Se Guftagu” were organised on Friday at Government Higher Secondary School Shadipora and Government Higher Secondary School Madwan to strengthen community participation in the fight against substance abuse and highlight the crucial role of mothers in safeguarding youth from drug addiction.
At Government Higher Secondary School Shadipora, the programme was presided over by Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Bandipora, Rabia Iqbal who attended as the nominated officer.
Addressing the gathering, the ALC underscored the importance of collective responsibility in preventing substance abuse and emphasized the need for active involvement of parents, educational institutions and the community in guiding youth towards a healthy and drug-free future.
At Government Higher Secondary School Madwan, the programme was attended by Centre Administrator, One Stop Centre (OSC), Bandipora, Ishrat Ayoub, as the nominated officer. She highlighted the institutional support available for women and families dealing with substance abuse-related challenges and stressed the vital role of mothers in identifying early signs of addiction and ensuring timely intervention.
Principal of the institution, Manzoor Ahmad, emphasized the need for a collective community approach to eradicate the menace of drugs from society. Resource persons Farose Ahmad, Lecturer, and Senior Master Fayaz Ahmad Rather delivered informative sessions on the psychological and social impacts of substance abuse on individuals and families.
The programmes witnessed active participation from ICDS Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers, ASHA workers, parents, teachers and students, who engaged in interactive discussions on the harmful effects of drug abuse, the importance of early awareness and the shared responsibility of families and society in preventing addiction.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the vision of a drug-free Bandipora through sustained awareness, community participation and collective action.
