KATHUA, DECEMBER 23: As part of Good Governance Week being observed from December 19 to 25, 2025, the District Administration Kathua on Tuesday organised a special event in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex with the objective of drawing valuable insights from the illustrious administrative career of Retired IAS Officer and former Chief Secretary B. R. Sharma, a distinguished son of the soil.

The special event, chaired by B. R. Sharma, formed part of the week-long activities being organised by the district administration to promote transparent, accountable and citizen-centric governance.

During the event, the Agriculture Department, Sheep Husbandry Department, National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), District Employment and Counselling Centre and the Rural Development Department (RDD) highlighted their targets and achievements, reflecting progress made under various developmental and welfare initiatives.

The interaction was organised to enable officers and stakeholders to benefit from the vast administrative experience of B. R. Sharma. The discussion focused on strengthening governance mechanisms, improving service delivery and ensuring that development initiatives effectively reach the intended beneficiaries. Beneficiaries from different sectors also shared their success journeys and highlighted the supportive role played by the concerned departments in achieving sustainable livelihoods.

Addressing the gathering, B. R. Sharma emphasised that Good Governance is a mandate for every public servant and stressed the need to ensure that development and public welfare initiatives remain firmly aligned with the right direction. He underlined the importance of adherence to prescribed guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and transparency in the execution of official assignments.

Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Sharma in his concluding remarks said that it was a privilege for the district administration to host an administrator of such stature. He expressed gratitude to B. R. Sharma for his valuable advice, suggestions and words of encouragement, and said that the illustrious career of B. R. Sharma stands as a shining example of commitment, integrity and transparency in public service delivery. He added that the insights shared during the interaction have reinforced the resolve of the district administration to further strengthen good governance practices across the district.

ADC Kathua Vishavjeet Singh, CPO Ranjit Thakur and district and sectoral officers were also present on the occasion.
