BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 30: A District-Level Joint Steering Committee meeting for implementation and monitoring of the UT Action Plan for Rabies Elimination by 2030 was held at the VC Room, Mini Secretariat, Bandipora.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl, and focused on strengthening inter-sectoral coordination for rabies prevention and control, improving animal-bite surveillance and reporting, ensuring timely management of animal-bite cases, strengthening availability of ARV and ARS/RIG, dog vaccination and population management, and enhancing community awareness.
On the occasion, the ADC directed the concerned departments to improve the infrastructure and strengthen facilities for rabies prevention and control, while stressing the need to expand coverage to more locations across the district to ensure wider outreach and effective implementation of the action plan.
Dr. Nabeel Ishtiyaq Mir, District Nodal Officer, National Rabies Control Programme (NRCP), Bandipora, presented a detailed presentation on rabies prevention, control and the district action plan.
The committee also discussed strengthening coordination between human health and veterinary services, timely reporting and management of animal-bite cases, surveillance of suspected rabid animals and regular monitoring of programme activities.
It was emphasised that all concerned departments and stakeholders should work in close coordination and undertake regular reviews to identify gaps and ensure timely corrective measures.
The meeting was attended by CMO Bandipora, representatives from the Animal Husbandry, Forest Department, Urban Local Bodies, Panchayati Raj Institutions and animal welfare organisations.
