UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 06: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, chaired a meeting of the District-Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre to assess implementation of drug control measures and their on-ground impact.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Bhat, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan and officers from various line departments.
Detailed deliberations were held on the progress in identifying individuals involved in the illicit drug trade and the status of investigations under the NDPS Act.

The DC directed for immediate freezing and attachment of assets of drug traffickers, effective measures to curb illicit cultivation of narcotic crops, rehabilitation support for victims of substance abuse, and enhanced surveillance in government and private educational institutions, including coaching centres. She emphasised the need for the Nasha Mukt Panchayat campaign’s proper implementation.

Departments were instructed to conduct IEC activities for public awareness, especially at grassroots levels. The meeting also stressed the identification and monitoring of drug abuse hotspots and the functioning of drug de-addiction centres.

The Drugs and Food Controller was tasked with ensuring 100% CBS billing in pharmacies. The ETO was directed to mobilize teams to proactively detect and destroy wild cannabis growth in the district.
