BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 21: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, along with SSP Budgam, Hariprasad KK today chaired the 51st District-Level Narcotics Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting at the Conference Hall, Budgam.
The Deputy Commissioner took detailed review of measures for prevention and control of drug abuse in the district.
At the outset, the DC reviewed enforcement, awareness, treatment and rehabilitation measures and called for stronger coordination among all concerned departments.
He directed intensified IEC activities, particularly among youth, students and vulnerable groups, besides strict vigil around educational institutions and other vulnerable areas.
The DC called for firm action against drug peddling and directed timely identification, counselling, treatment, rehabilitation and follow-up of persons affected by drug abuse. He also directed intensified action against illegal cultivation of cannabis, poppy and other prohibited crops through coordinated field efforts.
Reviewing chemist shops, the DC stressed strict monitoring, 100 per cent CCTV coverage and computerised billing, with action against violations as per law.
SSP Budgam stressed sustained enforcement and close inter-departmental coordination to strengthen the anti-drug campaign.
The meeting was attended by ADC Budgam Mehraj-ud-Din Shah, SDMs, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, DFO, ARTO, CMO, District Social Welfare Officer, officers from the Health Department and other concerned departments.
