SHOPIAN, JUNE 05: World Environment Day was celebrated with vibrant participation and enthusiasm in all schools across Shopian, highlighting the collective commitment of students and educators towards environmental conservation.

The main district-level event was hosted at Government High School Zawoora, drawing a large assembly of students, teachers, and staff from multiple institutions.

The day’s program commenced with an environmental pledge, underscoring a shared resolve to protect and nurture the natural world.

This was followed by a series of creative and thought-provoking activities, including a painting competition and slogan writing contest centered on this year’s global theme, ‘Beat Plastic Pollution.’
Students showcased their artistic talent and environmental awareness through powerful imagery and impactful messaging.

A key highlight of the event was a massive awareness rally led by students and teachers. The procession, filled with energy and conviction, moved through the surrounding areas with placards and slogans calling for an end to plastic pollution and a shift towards sustainable living.

The rally aimed to sensitize the local population to the pressing environmental issues and encourage community participation in eco-friendly practices.

Showkat Ahmad, Dy. CEO Shopian, presided over the event as the chief guest. He lauded the enthusiasm of the students and emphasized the crucial role of environmental education in building a sustainable future. He urged young minds to become ambassadors of change and adopt environmentally conscious habits in their daily lives.

The event concluded on a high note with a strong message of unity, responsibility, and action for a cleaner and greener planet.
