KULGAM, JUNE 16: As part of the fortnight-long campaign under the ambitious Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, a mega awareness camp was today organized at the New Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Kulgam.

The programme was presided over by Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Kulgam, Mohammad Afzal Parray and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan.

The event witnessed participation from Vice Chairperson DDC Kulgam, Shazia Jan; DDC members, ADDC Kulgam, district and sectoral officers, and a large number of tribal residents.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson DDC described the initiative as a mission to bridge the development gap in tribal areas and ensure that tribal populations are fully benefited from various government schemes.

He emphasized the importance of preserving the rich cultural heritage and traditions of tribal communities and called for coordinated efforts from all stakeholders to achieve tangible outcomes.

In his address, Deputy Commissioner stated that the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan is a major step towards inclusive development and tribal empowerment, with a focus on comprehensive awareness and scheme saturation. He instructed all departments to reach every doorstep, raise awareness, and ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are covered.

He highlighted that the programme is inspired by the vision of Birsa Munda, the iconic tribal freedom fighter, and aims to honor his legacy by empowering tribal communities through targeted development initiatives.

DDC member from Manzgam, Jameela Chowdhury, also spoke on the occasion and lauded the government’s dedicated efforts for the upliftment of tribal populations. She highlighted the developmental progress in Manzgam and other tribal areas, and stressed the importance of such outreach programmes in raising awareness and ensuring the grassroots reach of government initiatives.

During the programme, resource persons from various departments briefed participants about the schemes and welfare programmes available for tribal communities, ensuring they are well-informed and empowered to avail the benefits.
