KULGAM, JUNE 16: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kulgam, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office, today observed ‘World Elder Abuse Awareness Day’ to raise awareness about the rights and welfare of senior citizens.
The event was held under the chairmanship of Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Chairman, DLSA Kulgam. Legal Aid Defense Counsels (LADCs) attended the programme as resource persons and delivered insightful lectures on the topic.
They highlighted key provisions of various welfare schemes being provided by the central and UT governments for senior citizens. Speakers also informed participants about the availability of free legal aid and other legal services offered by DLSA and affiliated legal services institutions.
Programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior citizens, staff of DLSA, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and officials from the District Social Welfare Office.
The event was supervised by Fozia Paul, Secretary, DLSA Kulgam.
