BANDIPORA, NOVEMBER 14: Government Degree College Sumbal on Thursday organised a fresher’s party in the auditorium.
The programme organised under the patronage of the College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl, was attended by a large number of participants, including teaching and non-teaching faculty members, as well as students from the 1st, 3rd, and 5th semesters.
The event was aimed to welcome newly admitted students and to foster a sense of community among students from different semesters, offering them an opportunity to connect, showcase their talents, and enjoy a memorable experience. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Nikhat Nabi, Dean Students Welfare and Head, Department of Zoology.
In her address, Dr. Nikhat extended a warm welcome to the newly admitted students, emphasizing the importance of abiding by the college’s rules and regulations for their academic and personal growth. She also urged the senior students to take on a guiding role and support their juniors, in order to create a cooperative and nurturing academic environment.
The program was moderated by Afreen Parvaiz and Masarat Jan, both 3rd-semester students. The event featured a number of cultural and musical performances, along with speeches, interactive games, and an exciting quiz competition, to entertain and engage the attendees.
The enthusiastic participation of students was evident, as many took the opportunity to display their creative and artistic abilities, contributing to the overall success and energy of the programme.
At the end of the program, students expressed their sincere gratitude to the college administration for organizing such an event that not only served as a platform for talent and creativity but also facilitated interaction between students of different semesters.
