DLSA Rajouri organises legal services camp at Nowshera

RAJOURI, DECEMBER 30: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Rajouri today organised a mega legal services camp on Child Rights, Prohibition of Child Marriage and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme at Government Degree College, Nowshera.

The camp was organised in collaboration with District Police Rajouri and Tehsil Administration Nowshera and was hosted by Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Nowshera.

The chief guest on the occasion was Chairman, DLSA Rajouri and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Rajouri, Rajesh Sapru while the guest of honour was Secretary, DLSA Rajouri, Shama Sharma.

The programme was organised under the guidance of the Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee and Sub Judge, Nowshera, Suhasni Vasisatha.

The camp was held as part of the national campaign “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat”, launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, including a special 100-day intensive awareness campaign aimed at making India free from child marriage.

The campaign focused on creating awareness, preventing incidents of child marriage, empowering girls through education and ensuring effective enforcement of law. The national target is to reduce the prevalence of child marriage to below 5 percent by 2029.

Through this initiative, DLSA Rajouri endeavoured to sensitise society on child rights, prohibition of child marriage and promotion of gender equality.

The welcome address was delivered by Secretary, DLSA Rajouri Shama Sharma. LADC Mohd. Anwar highlighted various aspects of child rights, while Dy. LADC sensitised participants about the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat campaign.
Addl. SP Baljeet Singh also addressed the gathering, followed by a special address by Chairman, DLSA Rajouri Rajesh Sapru who emphasised collective responsibility in eliminating child marriage and safeguarding the rights of children.

Cultural performances focusing on the themes of Child Marriage Free Bharat and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao were presented by Sajid Wani from J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and girl students of Government Degree College, Nowshera.

During the camp, track suits and slippers were distributed to 28 students of Bal Ashram, Nowshera by NGO We Can. The TSWO Nowshera donated wheelchairs to two specially-abled beneficiaries while BDO Nowshera donated volleyballs and nets to promote sports among children of the Bal Ashram.

ICDS Department distributed kits under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme and advocates of Bar Association Nowshera distributed school bags among 40 girl students.

The programme concluded with all participants taking a pledge for Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat, reaffirming their commitment towards making India free from child marriage.

Among others present on the occasion were ADC Nowshera, Pritam Lal Thappa, BMO Nowshera Dr. Chander Prakash, SHO Police Station Nowshera Arjun Magotra, BDO Nowshera, Kumar Gokul along with ASHA workers and other stakeholders.
