DLSA Ramban holds first quarterly meet of UTRC

RAMBAN, MARCH 30: As per NALSA’s annual calendar of activities for the year 2024, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ramban, under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority, today conducted the first quarterly meeting of the Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC)  at District Court Complex here.

The meeting was chaired by Chairman, DLSA, (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Ramban, Ranbir Singh Jasrotia along with other members of the UTRC.

The meeting was held in order to expedite the identification and review of prisoners belonging to district Ramban, who are lodged in district jail Udhampur and are eligible to be considered for release as well as to accelerate the regular functioning of the committee and review the state of all eligible under-trial prisoners (UTPs)

The committee reviewed the cases of the eligible UTPs shortlisted by the Secretary, DLSA, Ramban, Anjana Rajput.

The Committee took up and discussed five cases, however, no case was recommended for early release.

The meeting among others was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Varunjeet Charak, Additional Superintendent of Police, Ramban Gourav Mahajan, Deputy Legal Aid Defense Counsel Abdul Hamid Itoo, and Additional Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Ramban   Kumar Harshvijay Singh.
