REASI, APRIL 15: Under the visionary leadership of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi (also Principal District and Sessions Judge Reasi) Khalil Choudhary and the guidance of Secretary, DLSA Reasi Pooja Gupta, an awareness programme on Right to Education was today organized at Government Middle School Garan.

The programme was conducted by the Para Legal Volunteers of TLSC Katra. During the session, the students and staff were sensitized to the importance of education as a fundamental right under Article 21-A of the Constitution of India.

The participants were informed about free and compulsory education for children between the ages of 6 to 14 years under the Right to Education Act, 2009.

The PLVs highlighted key provisions of the Act, including access to quality education, prohibition of discrimination and the role of parents and authorities in ensuring school enrollment and retention. The students were encouraged to actively pursue their education and be aware of their rights.

A quiz competition on the theme “Freedom Fighters” was organized by the Para Legal Volunteers of TLSC Katra at Government Middle School, Nangal. As many as 15 students enthusiastically participated in the competition, showcasing their knowledge and awareness about the contributions and sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters.

Another awareness programme on Pre-litigation Matters was organized by the Para Legal Volunteers of TLSC Mahore at LAC Shajroo. The programme focused on spreading awareness regarding Pre-Litigation Cases and the upcoming Special Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on 18th April 2026.

During the session, the participants were informed about the importance of amicable settlement of disputes through Lok Adalats, which provide a speedy, cost-effective and hassle-free mechanism for resolving cases without prolonged litigation.

Similarly, an awareness programme on the theme “Protection of Environment” was organized at the Front Office Mahore by the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC). The participants were sensitized to the importance of environmental protection, conservation of natural resources and the role of individuals in maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.
