SHOPIAN, MAY18: In a proactive effort to bridge the gap between legal aid and citizens during times of crisis, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian, in collaboration with the Education Department Shopian, organized a comprehensive awareness program today.

The event focused on the NALSA Scheme for Disaster Victims and was hosted at the Higher Secondary School Narapora, Shopian.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students and educators, highlighting a growing community interest in understanding legal rights and disaster-related support mechanisms.
Rafie Ahmad Ganie, Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) Shopian, led an insightful session detailing the core provisions of the NALSA Scheme for Disaster Victims. He explicitly emphasized the critical importance of accessing timely, free legal assistance during crises.

The event was well-supported by Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), Sadaf Manzoor and Sajad Ahmad who actively engaged with the attendees.

The primary objective of the initiative was to educate vulnerable populations, ensuring they are fully informed of their statutory rights and the legal support infrastructure available to them during natural or man-made disasters.

DLSA Shopian remains steadfastly committed to driving grassroots legal literacy, empowering citizens and fostering resilience through continuous community outreach initiatives.
