SRINAGAR, MARCH 27: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, in collaboration with the School Education Department, today organized a series of awareness programmes at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Amira Kadal, Srinagar.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge), and under the supervision of Tabassum Qadir, Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.
The awareness sessions aimed at sensitizing students about their legal rights and protections under various laws. Adv. Asif Bhat delivered an informative session on Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) procedures and compensation rights, highlighting the importance of legal remedies available to victims of road accidents.
Jahan Ara, Deputy Chief LADC, elaborated on the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, emphasizing the need for awareness and timely reporting of offences to ensure child safety and justice.
Speakers also spoke about the NALSA Helpline 15100 and provisions under the Domestic Violence Act, stressing the availability of free legal aid services and support mechanisms for victims of domestic abuse. She encouraged students to disseminate this information within their communities so that those in need can access timely assistance.
The programme witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, who appreciated the initiative taken by DLSA Srinagar in spreading legal awareness at the grassroots level. Such initiatives play a vital role in empowering young minds with knowledge of their rights and fostering a more informed and responsible society.
