REASI, FEBRUARY 28: District Magistrate Reasi, Kumar Abhishek, today chaired a meeting of the District Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to comprehensively review enforcement measures and initiatives aimed at curbing drug abuse and promoting a drug-free environment across the district.
The District Magistrate reviewed cases registered under the NDPS Act. SSP, Paramvir Singh, briefed the chair on identified hotspots and vulnerable areas.
The District Magistrate directed the Police Department to further strengthen enforcement measures and maintain strict vigil at vulnerable locations in the town and other sensitive areas of the district. He also instructed the Agriculture, Forest and Excise Departments to work in close coordination and take immediate steps for the identification and destruction of Cannabis cultivation.
While reviewing progress under the Nasha Mukt J&K campaign, he assessed awareness programmes being conducted in schools, colleges and public places. He stressed that regular inspections must be carried out to ensure strict compliance with drug control norms and reviewed the availability and utilization of drug testing kits.
Later, the District Magistrate conducted a comprehensive review of the functioning of the School Education Department to ensure effective implementation of the educational schemes. He reviewed the status of schools and enrolment in both government and private institutions, assessed physical and financial progress under Samagra Shiksha and examined staff strength across schools. He also reviewed the status of scholarships and directed the concerned authorities to submit a detailed report on schools lacking basic infrastructure, including toilet facilities and proper buildings, for necessary action.
ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Rakesh Kumar, CPO Narinder Kumar, ACR Nitin Verma and other district officers were present at the meeting.
