DRCS Reasi Celebrates World Red Cross Day with Theme “Keeping Humanity Alive”

REASI, MAY 08: The District Red Cross Society Reasi today celebrated World Red Cross Day with the theme “Keeping Humanity Alive” in the Auditorium of the District Administrative Complex.
Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan attended the event as Chief Guest, in the presence of Rakesh Wazir (Chairman, DRCS), ADC Kul Bhushan Khajuria, ACR Anshumali Sharma, other District Officers and District Branch Managing Committee Members.

The programme started with the hoisting of the Red Cross Flag followed by a Symposium on the theme “Keeping Humanity Alive”. Five students from College/Schools spoke on the theme. Patriotic song was also presented.
In his address, District Development Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan, emphasized the crucial role of the Red Cross in assisting and aiding people affected by natural disasters, armed conflicts, and other crisis worldwide. He stressed the need to form a team of volunteers who can work on the ground during emergencies. He also encouraged students to become volunteers and contribute to relief efforts in the event of natural disasters. Further he emphasized the need of attendants “Sarai” for patients of District Hospital Reasi.

Rakesh Wazir (Chairman, DRCS) highlighted the role of District Red Cross Society, Reasi in helping poor & needy people. He stressed on increasing the resources of the District Red Cross Society and involving maximum people in the Red Cross Movement. He also appealed to the General Public to donate generously towards the Red Cross Society for the welfare of very poor people.

Four Officers of different departments viz Chief Education Officer, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, two Lecturers and other donors were felicitated with appreciation certificates by the District Development Commissioner for their generous contribution towards the District Red Cross Society. Prizes were also given away to participating students.

Prominent among others who were present on the occasion include District Officers, District Branch Managing Committee Members, District Red Cross Society, Reasi, Prominent citizens, Heads, Teachers and students of various Educational institutions. Vote of thanks presented by Sham Lal Kesar (Vice-Chairman, DRCS) Reasi. Programme concluded with the recitation of the National Anthem.
