Shopian: Due to lack of facilities on the historical Mughal road, commuters and drivers travelling on it are facing inconvenience.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the 84-km long road which connects Poonch district with Shopian at Bufliaz has been accorded National Highway status two years ago.

Passengers and drivers while talking to KNO said that though travelling through Mughal road from Shopian’s Hirpora gives you a feeling of heaven but lack of facilities on the roadside makes the journey cumbersome.

There are no washrooms, shops and eateries along the road for kilometres because of which people travelling on it are suffering, said a local traveller.

“If your vehicle has any issue you won’t be able to rectify it as no such facility is available on the road,” said a driver.

He said that travelling along this road throws one incommunicado for hours due to lack of telecommunication.

“In case of an emergency or an accident no SOS call can be made. Hence many avoid travel on the road,” said a commuter.

In absence of a washroom facility, women face immense hardship while urging the government to act on the complaint on priority, said a woman tourist from Srinagar—(KNO)
