He said that, despite clear directions from the Additional Commissioner Revenue (ACR) to resolve the issue, administrative efforts have been repeatedly thwarted by political interference, resulting in further delays to this crucial infrastructure project. He remarked that the obstruction of this essential initiative is causing unnecessary suffering for thousands of residents in Onagam, who have been awaiting reliable access to clean water for years.
Condemning the political interference, Majid said, “This is an outright attempt to sabotage a vital development project that directly impacts the lives and welfare of the people. Politics should serve the people, not disrupt essential services like water supply.”
Majid called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief Secretary Atal Duloo, PHE Minister, and the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to intervene immediately to remove the encroachment, expedite the project, and ensure no further delays. “Swift action is required to prevent any more politically motivated disruptions,” he added. The people of Bandipora deserve access to this essential resource without unnecessary obstacles.”
He asserted that the successful completion of the water supply scheme will significantly improve public health and quality of life in Onagam Village. Majid underscored that the basic right to clean water should not be compromised by narrow political interests, urging authorities to prioritize the welfare of the people above all else.
Majid stressed that “The people have waited long enough. The people of Bandipora deserve better, and I urge Chief Minister and DC Bandipora to act promptly and ensure that this essential project reaches completion without further hindrance,” Majid added.
