Kishtwar, Oct 03 : After hectic efforts to trace the hiding militants in upper reaches of Chatroo in district Kishtwar, security forces today was able to establish a contact with militants in the forests and exchange of few rounds of fire took place.

An official told the news agency that in the morning the hiding militants fired upon the security forces and exchange of fire took place.

Giving details, police spokesman said, “Based on the specific intelligence information about presence of terrorists, a joint search operation was launched by the security forces at Chatroo forests, under the jurisdiction of police station Chatroo, district Kishtwar.”

“A contact was established and few rounds have been fired from both the sides. Further details are awaited,” the spokesman said.

For the few weeks, security forces have launched a massive combing operation in forests of Chatroo in Kishtwar district after presence of militants in the area. Police said that the area has a dense forest and terrorists have been giving a slip to forces due to the dense forests.

On September 13, two soldiers including a junior commissioned officer were killed in the encounter after they were critically injured during an exchange of fire with hiding terrorists
