SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 20: Department of Horticulture Shopian today organized a farm machinery mela cum awareness programme at Block Headquarter Chitragam Kalan.
The event witnessed the participation of a large number of orchardists.
MLA Zainapaora, Showkat Hussain Ganie was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, MLA urged the orchardist community to adopt the scientific techniques to enhance the production and quality of horticulture produce. He enjoined the participants to approach the horticulture department for the introduction of latest trends and techniques.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Shopian acquainted the orchardists regarding modern techniques/practices of farming and about various schemes of the department including the schemes under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme.
On the occasion, the MLA distributed farm machinery including mini tractors, power tillers, spray motors, irrigation pump sets etc on subsidized rates to the orchardists.
Among others, the event was attended by the officers and officials from the Horticulture Department along with the large gathering of orchardists.
