RAJOURI, JULY 27: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today visited the flood-affected Madina Colony in Rajouri town to assess the situation on the ground and review the restoration of essential services.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure restoration of electricity supply by this evening. He also instructed the Jal Shakti Department to restore water supply at the earliest and ensure the availability of water tankers to meet the immediate drinking water needs of the affected residents.
Emphasizing the importance of public health and hygiene, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Municipal authorities to undertake intensive sanitation and cleanliness drives in the affected area to prevent the outbreak of water-borne diseases.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the Tehsildar Rajouri to conduct a detailed assessment of the losses suffered by the affected households due to the recent floods so that necessary relief measures could be taken in accordance with the established norms.
The DC also directed the Executive Engineer, PHE, to make the existing borewell functional at the earliest in consultation with the Executive Engineer, Ground Water and the Executive Engineer, Mechanical, to ensure a reliable water supply for the affected residents.
Interacting with the local residents, the Deputy Commissioner assured them of full support from the District Administration and reiterated that all necessary measures were being taken to restore normalcy at the earliest.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer Maqsood Ahmed, Superintending Engineer Jal Shakti Sunil Bhat, Executive Engineer PDD Javed Hussain, Executive Engineer PHE Zulfiqar Ahmed, Tehsildar Rajouri Varinder Gupta, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Rajouri, besides other district and sectoral officers.
