KISHTWAR, JULY 01: Animal Husbandry Department Kishtwar has dispatched the Foot and Mouth Disease Control Programme (FMDCP) Round 8 vaccines and logistics to all veterinary centres across the district, with special emphasis on ensuring supply to far-flung and Aspirational Blocks including Marwah, Warwan, Padder and Bunjwah.
The programme is being carried out under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma and supervised by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kishtwar Dr Ashfaq Ahmad Kailam.
The mega vaccination drive will commence on 2 July 2026 and run for 45 days to ensure door-to-door coverage across the district.
Reviewing the micro-plans for the campaign, the Deputy Commissioner directed field staff to ensure 100% saturation, with no eligible livestock left unvaccinated, particularly in remote mountainous belts like Padder, Nagseni, Dachan, Mughalmaidan, Inderwal, Trigam, Drabshalla, Bunjwah and the trans-Himalayan valleys of Marwah and Warwan.
The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO) Kishtwar outlined the operational deployment for the campaign, directing veterinary doctors, paravets and mobile vaccination teams to remain stationed within their respective zones and instructing sector officers to monitor cold chain logistics closely to maintain vaccine efficacy. The department has formed dedicated rapid-deployment teams to navigate difficult terrain and reach every household.
The Animal Husbandry Department appealed to livestock owners across Padder, Bunjwah, Marwah, Warwan and the rest of Kishtwar district to cooperate with the vaccination teams over the 45-day drive.
