BHADERWAH, JULY 09: The Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), organized a free of cost Aids and Assistive Living Devices distribution camp at the Community Hall Bhaderwah.

The camp was organized under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh and the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Tariq Parveez Qazi.

The initiative was conducted under the Government of India’s Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) and Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) Schemes, aimed at providing essential aids and assistive living devices to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (Divyangjans), enhancing their mobility, dignity and quality of life.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah, Sunil Bhutyal who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, lauded the efforts of the Social Welfare Department and ALIMCO for reaching out to the most vulnerable sections of society and ensuring they receive the support they deserve.

He emphasized that such initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive development and the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” He personally distributed many of the aids and devices to the beneficiaries, interacting warmly with them and assuring continued support from the administration. He also encouraged the community to spread awareness about these schemes so that more eligible people can benefit in the future.

Tehsildar Bhaderwah, Kamalpreet Singh and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Shahnawaz Ahmed also participated in the event and assisted in its smooth conduct.

During the distribution, a range of prosthetic and mobility aids were handed over to the beneficiaries, including wheelchairs, walkers, walking sticks, hearing aids, elbow crutches, waist belts and knee braces. The presence of dedicated officers and volunteers ensured the event was conducted with dignity and efficiency.

At the conclusion of the camp, Niyaz Ahmad, Vice-President of the Handicapped Welfare Association, District Doda, conveyed his sincere gratitude to the Department of Social Welfare, ADC, Tehsildar, TSWO and the ALIMCO team for organizing the camp. He highlighted the positive impact of such initiatives in empowering the elderly and specially-abled individuals to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.

The event was marked by a spirit of care and inclusivity, reinforcing the collective resolve to build a more accessible, compassionate, and equitable society.
