Srinagar: Ahead of R-Day function, security has been beefed up in Kashmir capital Srinagar while frisking of pedestrians and commuters has also been intensified.

Today Police and Para-military troopers were seen frisking the pedestrians in city-centre Lal Chowk. Reports reaching the news agency Kashmir News Trust that joint forces have intensified the process of checking vehicles and frisking people in different parts of the city.

Reports said that police have been keeping vigil over suspected persons while vehicles, mostly bikers are being stopped and checked.

Artificial barricades have been created to restrict the speed of vehicles in various parts.
