Ganderbal, Apr 06 : In a significant breakthrough, the Ganderbal Police swiftly responded to a complaint filed by Tajamul Hussain, owner of the Hung Park Restaurant, regarding a burglary incident that occurred on the night of March 21-22, 2024.

According to the report filed at Police Station Gund, unidentified individuals forcibly entered the restaurant premises, causing damage to property and stealing valuable items, including generators, inverter units, and kitchen appliances.

A case FIR No.11/2024 was registered, initiating a comprehensive investigation, a police official informed the news agency.

He said that under the directives of SSP Ganderbal, Sandeep Gupta and under the supervision of SDPO Kangan, Muzaffar Jan, a specialized police team was formed to probe the case. Led by SHO Inspector Lateef Ali, the team meticulously pursued leads, ultimately narrowing down suspects.

Their efforts resulted in the apprehension of Irshad Ahmad Kalwatho, a resident of Naninara, Sumbal. During interrogation, Kalwatho confessed to the crime and implicated his accomplices, Feroze Ahmad Kalwatho and Mohd Saleem Kalu, also residents of Naninara, Sumbal, he said.

Following the disclosure by the accused, police successfully recovered stolen property worth lakhs from various locations in Naninara, Sumbal. Further investigation uncovered additional stolen goods, shedding light on previously unreported theft cases within the jurisdiction.

The official further said that they seized a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing Registration No. JK01M 6083, believed to have been used during the commission of the crime.

“The proactive measures taken by the Ganderbal Police have earned praise from the public, who commend their swift action in apprehending the burglars and recovering stolen property, a police spokesperson said, adding that people have expressed hope that stringent legal measures will be taken against those involved in such criminal activities.

District Police Ganderbal has urged continued cooperation from the public in maintaining a crime-free society, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in combating crime. “The investigation remains ongoing, with efforts focused on apprehending additional suspects and recovering more stolen property,” the spokesperson said.
