GCW Parade hosts 17th National Youth Parliament Competition 2024-25

JAMMU, MARCH 22: Government College for Women Parade Ground on Saturday organized the 17th National Youth Parliament Competition 2024-25 under the aegis of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India.

A total of 70 students participated in this prestigious event, showcasing their understanding of parliamentary procedures and honing their debating skills.

The event was graced by Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma as the Chief Guest. His presence served as a great source of motivation for the young participants.

In his address, the Member Parliament appreciated the students and faculty for organizing the event and remarked that the session reminded him of the real Parliament.

Also present on the occasion was Prof. Dinesh Chahal, Professor at Central University, Haryana, and Group Coordinator of the Youth Parliament. He shared his feedback and motivated the students with his inspiring words.
Former Nodal Principal, Jammu Division Colleges, Dr. S. P. Sarswat congratulated the college and students for their commendable efforts in making the event a success.

Earlier, the event commenced with a welcome address by Principal of the College Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo. The proceedings of the program were efficiently conducted by Prof. Jasneet Kaur, while Dr. Gurpreet Kour, National Youth Parliament Coordinator, delivered the Vote of Thanks.

Several distinguished faculty members attended the event, including Dr. Sushma Chib, Dr. Ritu Magotra, Dr. Rajesh Kant, Prof. Surinder Singh Parihar, Dr. Mamta Sharma, Dr. Atiya Syed, Prof. Anuradha Kalsi and Dr. Arif Ahmad, among others. Their presence emphasized the significance of shaping academic and extracurricular engagements within educational institutions.

A special appreciation was extended to the budding parliamentarians by the Chief Guest whose dedication and enthusiasm were evident throughout the session.

The students presented the proceedings of the house with full decorum, engaging in discussions and debate on the topic ‘One Nation One Election’.

Their performances reflected the democratic spirit of the nation, reinforcing the importance of debate, discussion, and leadership skills in shaping future policymakers.

The top three participants adjudged winners of the competition were:1st Prize: Aseesabjot Kour, 2nd Prize: Sehrish Altaf, 3rd Prize: Ufra Tanveer.

The National Youth Parliament Competition served as a transformative platform, enabling students to engage with parliamentary procedures and develop a sense of leadership and responsibility. The event was a resounding success, with students and faculty actively participating, ensuring an enlightening and stimulating experience for all.
