KATHUA, MARCH 22: In an effort to combat drug abuse and promote Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), the Social Welfare Department, Kathua organized a walkathon here today.

The Walkathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 150 individuals, including social activists, students, and local residents, who came together to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.
The event began at 6:30 AM from the District Library and culminated at Mukherjee Chowk.

Participants carried banners and placards displaying messages on the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices. The primary objective of the initiative was to educate people about the risks associated with substance abuse while encouraging them to adopt positive habits.

To further spread the message, the Social Welfare Department distributed refreshments and Nasha Mukt Bharat T-shirts to participants, symbolizing their commitment to the cause. The overwhelming response from the community demonstrated a collective determination to work towards a drug-free Kathua.

Speaking on the occasion, officials from the department emphasized the need for continued efforts in tackling the issue of drug abuse and encouraged citizens to support such initiatives. They reiterated that awareness and community involvement are key to creating a society free from the menace of addiction.

This walkathon marks a significant step in the fight against substance abuse, sending a strong message that a drug-free future is possible through unity, awareness, and action. The Social Welfare Department urges the people of Kathua to stand together in this mission and contribute to building a healthier society.
