JAMMU, APRIL 22: The Women Development Cell (WDC) in collaboration with the Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH) of Government Degree College Bishnah organized a highly impactful awareness lecture on “Women’s Rights Against Sexual Harassment”, as part of its ongoing initiatives to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive academic environment.

The keynote speaker for the session was senior advocate and President of the Bar Association D.K. Singh, who shared his valuable insights on the legal rights and protections available to women under Indian law. He emphasized the importance of awareness, legal literacy, and institutional mechanisms in combating sexual harassment, and was well-received by faculty and students alike.

The event was held under the patronage of the College Principal Dr. Shallu Samyal, who in her address, underscored the role of educational institutions in empowering students, especially women, through informed discourse and proactive measures. She commended the efforts of both the Women Development Cell and CASH for organizing such a vital program.

The lecture was convened by Convenor CASH Committee Prof. Anju Bala, and Convener Women Development Cell Dr. Rashmi Arya.

Both conveners highlighted the significance of creating a harassment-free campus and the responsibility of every stakeholder in ensuring safety and equality. The program saw active participation from senior faculty members, staff, and students.

The interactive session allowed participants to raise concerns and ask questions, making it a meaningful and engaging experience. Such awareness programs play a crucial role in sensitizing the academic community and reinforcing the institutional commitment to gender equity and justice.
