GDC Vijaypur organises Symposium to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti

SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 27: Department of Commerce of Government Degree College Vijaypur organised a symposium on ‘Gandhian Thoughts’ under the aegis of Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations and Shikshit Bharat Abhiyaan.

Students of Commerce and other college departments participated in the competition with great enthusiasm, fervour and zeal. Students revisited the Gandhian principles with which he led his life and fought for freedom from Britishers and British rule. Gandhi Ji led a very simple life with high principles contributing so much to the independence.

Earlier, Prof. Mamta Gupta, Head, Department of Commerce delivered the welcome address. She shared her views on various movements started by Gandhi Ji like the Non-Cooperation movement which Mahatma Gandhi started to achieve independence. The Students enthusiastically participated in the symposium by presenting their views on the contribution of Gandhi ji in national independence and nation rebuilding.

The event was conducted under the able guidance of Dr.Vandana Verma, Principal of the College.
Symposium concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to the winners and participants of different events under Gandhi Jayanti Celebration.

In her address to the participating students, the Principal of the College said that apart from Gandhi Ji’s contribution in the freedom struggle he also toiled to remove social evils that were rampant in the then Indian society which included social evils like sati, child marriage, untouchability and casteism. She appreciated and congratulated all the participants for their active participation and the staff for organising such an event.
