DODA, APRIL 08: In a significant initiative to promote Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Mission, the Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the District Youth Services and Sports Office, organised girls’ sports competitions in Zone Ghat and Zone Bhagwah , today.

The event was conducted under the directions of the District Development Commissioner with the objective to empower the girl child through active participation in sports and raising awareness about the importance of girls’ education and well-being.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 200 girls representing different educational institutions and panchayats from the two zones. In Zone Ghat, a Kabaddi competition was organised, while at Zone Bhagwah witnessed thrilling Volleyball competitions. The atmosphere was vibrant and filled with enthusiasm, as the young girls showcased their strength, skills and team spirit on the ground.

The competitions aimed not only to provide a platform to the girls to display their sporting talents but also to convey a strong message about gender equality and the importance of supporting the girl child in every aspect of life. Through such programs, the district administration seeks to foster self-confidence, leadership, and a healthy competitive spirit among young girls.

Officials from both departments were present at the venues to motivate and encourage the participants. The initiative was highly appreciated by the community, and it reinforced the commitment of the district towards the holistic development and empowerment of girls in rural and remote areas of Doda district.
