Health Drink: Here is Sugar!

It is rather depressing to see how many supposedly healthy products, promoted by major food businesses as a way to make up for the body’s major weaknesses, really lead to a variety of health problems in consumers, especially youngsters. Even more troubling is the fact that despite their widespread consumption, these items frequently contain an excessive amount of sugar while the same has gone unnoticed, and what hits as more unsettling is that hardly anyone talks about it. As an example, a well-known product in the health food category known as Bournvita has a shocking 37 grams of sugar per 100 grams, while another well-known product called Complan too has 29 grams of sugar per 100 grams. Daily use of such a harmful amount of sugar can disrupt the metabolism and result in several health problems.

Sadly, other companies and their goods exhibit a similar pattern, offering few health advantages while seriously damaging the bodies of consumers. It is concerning and must ring a bell of danger because these companies are indulging in unhealthy practices by giving them a different name. Their seemingly healthy product line is really causing chronic ailments including diabetes, obesity, mental health problems, heart diseases, and liver diseases to quietly increase, while the enormous marketing operations run by these businesses are encouraging a rising number of people, particularly young people, to consume their processed and unhealthy goods. The long-term effects of this trend are very concerning since they may result in a dramatic rise in chronic illnesses.

Without offering any genuine health benefits, such marketing initiatives are made to appeal to the consumer’s demand for quick fixes to health issues. However, the solution is to raise public knowledge of the risks associated with consuming these items and the advantages of a natural, unprocessed diet. To accurately inform the public about the substances used in these products and their potential effects on health, education programs must be conducted frequently, targeting the dedicated consumer base.   For a healthier body, people must realise what is really going on with these ostensibly healthy goods and switch to eating naturally occurring, unprocessed foods like millet and scores of other foods easily available.

The regulators must establish stronger rules on the promotion and marketing of such items, ensuring that customers are given accurate and transparent information. Norms for the maximum amount of sugar and processed components that can be used in health food items could be one of the examples in this direction. In tackling this problem, regulatory agencies must also play their role, which holds the key, and take immediate action to protect the health of consumers.  Food regulators must act quickly to stop the spread of chronic disorders brought on by the usage of these items, while it is time for all of us to put our health and well-being ahead of the practicality and allure of processed meals. It is time to stop consuming these items, which only have a pleasing aesthetic but harm our bodies greatly and covertly.
