THATHRI, JANUARY 24: Under the direction of the District Development Commissioner Doda, the Department of ICDS organized a Healthy Baby Competition at Dak Banglow Thathri.

The event was inaugurated by District Programme Officer Paramjeet Singh in the presence of Child Development Project Officer Thathri, Pankaj Sharma Tehsildar Thathri, Satish Rana; BMO Thathri, Dr. Varsha Kotwal; BDO Thathri, Bhushan Kumar and field functionaries from the ICDS and Health Departments.

The event featured health check-ups conducted by experts from the Health Department, along with weight and height measurements of children, who were categorized into normal and underweight groups.

A series of activities, such as games promoting physical, cognitive and social development, as well as poetry recitation, songs, dances, and a ramp walk, added vibrancy to the program. The ramp walk by children emerged as the highlight of the event. Gifts were presented to all participating children, while two children were selected as “Healthy Babies” and received special prizes.

To commemorate the 10th National Girl Child Day, a cake-cutting ceremony involving young girls was also held. Stalls showcasing local fruits, vegetables, and cooked nutritious food items were also set up to promote healthy eating practices. District Programme Officer encouraged block-level officers to work in collaboration for the holistic betterment of women, children, and society at large.

Similar competitions will be held across all Panchayats and blocks in the district throughout January and February 2025, culminating in a district-level mega event on February 28, 2025, where the District Development Commissioner Doda will grace the occasion as the chief guest.
