Irrigation department warns public against dumping of waste in Ranbir Canal

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 18: The irrigation Department has warned public against dumping trash and waste material in Ranbir Canal.

“It has come to our attention that some individuals are dumping garbage into the canal. These action result into severe environmental damage, obstruct water flow and impact agriculture activities. The public is hereby warned against the illegal dumping of garbage into the canal,” a public Notice issued today stated.

“Any person if found violating this directive will face strict legal action and the accused will be punished in accordance with the provisions of Jammu & Kashmir Water Resources (Regulation & Management) Act 2010,” the department added

The Department has urged the public to cooperate in protecting the irrigation system and to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
