Bandipora: The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Bandipora is making remarkable strides towards providing access to clean drinking water for all its residents, with the administration spending a whopping budget of Rs 487 Cr till 2024 to ensure pure drinking water reaches every soul.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad said JJM in Bandipora is leaving no stone unturned to ensure access to clean drinking water for all its residents, with an impressive expenditure of Rs 487 Cr.

The DC informed that out of 224 works under different schemes, 223 works stand tendered out and letter of intent stands issued for all these works. He said that a total of 208 works have been allotted out of which 27 works have already been completed so far.

The DC said, 14 thousand leftover house holds are being covered to receive piped water connection besides 60 structures of filtration plants and 90 service reservoirs are being constructed under the mission.

He said the mission’s dedicated efforts and substantial investment are geared towards providing pure water access to every household in the district, making significant strides towards a healthier and more sustainable future.

Following the directions of DC, an inspection team has been formulated to carry periodic inspections of the works under the supervision of JD Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad.

The team expressed satisfaction with the execution of Service Reservoirs (SR), Pipe Distribution Network (PST), filtration plants, and other essential facilities, which will soon ensure quality water access for the local community.

The JDP said that the district administration under the guidance of DC Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad is wholeheartedly committed to the Jal Jeevan Mission, with a vision to provide every household in the district with reliable and safe water connections.

He said the government has invested Rs 487 crore to ensure every soul of the district gets pure tapped drinking water underscores the government’s dedication to achieving saturation of quality water tap connections in Bandipora by the year 2024.

JJM Fortnight Campaign, carried earlier, further accelerated the mission’s progress, in which all the 151 panchayats in the district were covered to sensitize the people about importance of water resources and their conservation.

During the campaign, around 25 supervisors, comprising senior officers visited the schemes/projects to ensure success and proper implementation of JJM.

Jal Jeevan Mission focuses on public welfare, improving public health, sanitation, and fostering overall socio-economic development.

Giving detaills about the workdone, Dr Owais said 35873 Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) have been provided in the district while work is in progress to complete the target of 47358 FHTC in the district.

He said 223 JJM works out of 225 worlds have been tendered and response rate has been 98.66 percent. He said 220 works have been alloted as on date while work has been started on 220 works.

He said whooping amount of Rs 487.26 Cr is being spent to ensure every single soul of the district is provided pure drinkingn water.

He said they ensure to maintain Quality and proper mechanism is in place which includes Third party monitoring by WAPCOS as well as DPM Unit Bandipora

Moreover , IEC activities for keeping sources clean , Pani samiti meetings , water sample testing has been geared up in the entire district. Two ISA partners are also roped in for necessary panchayat level awareness campaigns etc
