Srinagar: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah Monday said that all political parties are against the inclusion of non-locals which is threat to all the communities of J&K as voters in the union territory and may move the court against the proposal.

Addressing the presser after the all party meeting here at Abdullah’s residence in t which was attended by PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, Congress’ J&K unit president Vikar Rasool, CPI(M) leader MY Tarigami and other leaders; interestingly Shiv Sena leaders also attended the meeting called in the backdrop  inclusion of non-local voters will end the recognition of Jammu and Kashmir.

“All the political parties are against the inclusion of non-locals as voters in the union territory and in the future, if necessary, we can take this issue to the court,” he added.

“The recognition of Kashmiri, Phari, Sikhs and Dogras will disappear if the non-locals people will be given the right to vote in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding that the control of the assembly will be in the hands of outsiders while the people here will be deprived of it.

“After the all-party meeting, all of us political parties have come to the conclusion that we are not accepting this move of the Election Commission,” the NC chief said, adding It is a dangerous that non-locals are being given the right to vote here when they are already under attack.

“Five days ago I called LG Minoj Sinha and told him that the all party meeting should be called on this issue like he called on Armarnath yatra but so far no response has come from him,” he said.

The NC Chief further said that it has also been decided that another all party meeting will be held with the leaders of Jammu as well. (KNS).
