JAMMU, Mar 4: Hailing the new Start-Up policy launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Co-convenor Professional Cell, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Dr Varinder Sharma said that this initiative will not only create more companies in J&K but also generate massive employment besides help youngsters become self-reliant economically. Many youths in J&K have already proved their mettle in the field and are giving employment to hundreds of educated young boys and girls.
Dr Varinder Sharma said, “in order to achieve a target of setting up of about 2000 start-ups in next three years, the Union Territory UT government intends to keep a sum of Rs. 250 crores as Venture Capital Fund, with an initial infusion of Rs. 25 crores from J&K administration. This support will enable youth to think out of box and build their own brands which possess immense potential to go national or global based on performance, hard work and standards which will be required to be maintained.
The BJP leader urged youth including professionals like doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, agriculturists or technically trained graduates and post graduates in any field to take maximum benefit of this J&K Start-Up policy and try establishing brands or companies which deal in medical or engineering fields besides agriculture and food processing arenas. He added that those involved in building their companies will be given one-time assistance up to Rs 20 lakh in four equal installments which is a big support that will come from the J & K government.
Dr Varinder Sharma said after abrogation of Article 370, youth in J&K have tasted the fruits of development of peace and development. It’s because of such a conducive atmosphere that start-up policy will give their dreams wings and they can be masters of their own businesses and also help many get jobs. Financial assistance coming from the government for developing a prototype, starting an innovative product or service or any other activity for scaling up their Start-up venture will change the fate of people.
Dr Varinder Sharma added that the government has promised to hold Start-up Investors Meet programmes annually in Jammu and Kashmir to help new Start-ups raise funds which again is an initiative worth giving a chance. Those into food processing, agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, handicrafts or handlooms, education, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, textiles, apparel & fashion technology, renewable energy, electronics engineering, information technology, tourism, adventure sports and environment protection or green technologies must also come forward and seek benefits of this Start-Up policy 2024-27, the professional cell Co-convenor said.
