JAMMU, AUGUST 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), District Centre Jammu, today launched an Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme (ESDP) for aspiring women entrepreneurs at Government College for Women (GCW) Parade.
Organised under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme, the initiative aims to encourage participants to pursue self-employment and enterprise creation as viable career options. A total of 30 aspiring and potential women entrepreneurs registered for the programme on its inaugural day.
The programme was inaugurated by the College Principal Dr. Naveen Anand in the presence of District Nodal Officer KEDI District Centre Jammu Rajesh Kotwal; Prof. Sarika Mahajan, Dr. Mamta Sharma and Dr. Nitu Sharma, along with Shiwani Sharma, Assistant Faculty and Monika Salaria from JKEDI.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Naveen Anand underscored the growing significance of entrepreneurship in today’s economic landscape. He encouraged the trainees to make optimal use of the programme to transform their ideas into sustainable business ventures. He commended JKEDI for extending its entrepreneurship promotion initiatives to educational institutions, thereby creating meaningful avenues for students to explore entrepreneurship as a career path.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Kotwal highlighted JKEDI’s continued efforts to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment across Jammu and Kashmir. He apprised the participants about the support mechanisms available through JKEDI and urged them to actively engage with the training programme to acquire the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary for establishing successful enterprises.
The programme has been designed to provide participants with practical exposure to entrepreneurship and enterprise management through sessions covering business opportunity identification, project report preparation, startup support mechanisms, marketing, financial management and entrepreneurial competencies, along with interactive sessions with successful entrepreneurs.
This ESDP forms part of JKEDI’s ongoing initiatives under the RAMP Scheme to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem, promote women-led enterprises and contribute to employment generation and economic development in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
