Srinagar: Mr. Bashir Ahmad Naik has been elected as the new President of the Jammu & Kashmir Fruits, Vegetables Processing & Integrated Cold Chain Association (JKPICCA), representing Controlled Atmosphere (CA) Storage Units across Jammu & Kashmir. The association successfully held elections on November 9, 2024, to fill the positions of President, Vice President & General Secretary cum Treasurer. The event took place at the Directorate of Horticulture in Raj Bagh Srinagar, with a robust turnout of around 85% of the association’s members who collectively represent nearly 500,000 MT of CA storage capacity across 86 units.
JKPICCA plays a vital role in connecting various stakeholders within the cold storage and fruit processing sectors, working to address shared challenges and promote industry interests.
The election process was overseen by a distinguished panel of observers, ensuring transparency and integrity throughout. Mr. Bashir Ahmad Naik expressed his gratitude to all members, pledging to advocate for the industry’s needs at key forums and to focus on its growth and development. The newly elected Vice President, Mr. Arif Mir emphasized that the leadership team is committed to collaborating with all stakeholders to drive progress in the sector.
Mr. Ishfaq Ahmad Malik, elected as General Secretary cum Treasurer, assured JKPICCA members of his dedication to advancing the sector’s interests and addressing key issues for the industry’s benefit.
Outgoing President Mr. Majid Aslam Wafai congratulated the newly elected office bearers, expressing confidence in their capacity to lead JKPICCA to new heights.
The election proceedings were attended by various officials and observers, including Faiz Bakshi, Secretary General of KCCI; Syed Shabbir, General Manager of DIC Pulwama; Mukhtar Ahmad, President of the Industrial Association Lassipora; Ajaz Ahmad, General Manager of DIC Shopian; Mehraj Qureshi from FCIK; and Shafiq Ahmad Mir, CEC of IAL. Representatives from multiple mandi associations, including Pulwama, Shopian, and Pacchar, also observed the election process. The Election Commission, composed of Irshad Ahmad, Ashaq Hussain Shangloo, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, and Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh, played a key role in ensuring a smooth and fair election.
