JAMMU, JUNE 19: In a determined move to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian convenience, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has intensified its anti-encroachment efforts on the directions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Devansh Yadav. The Enforcement and Revenue Wings of JMC, under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (R&E) Subah Mehta carried out a comprehensive anti-encroachment drive across multiple areas of the city.

The drive was conducted in the areas including Gangyal, Kunjwani, Digiana, Indira Chowk via BC Road, Jewel Chowk, Vinayak Bazar and Maheshpura Chowk.

During the drive, as many as 25 unauthorized rehries, along with material were seized for illegal occupation of public pathways and roads.

The enforcement teams also conducted an awareness and sensitization campaign during the drive, urging the people in general and rehri wala, shopkeepers and other stakeholders in particular to not to install rehries or display goods in a manner that obstructs pedestrian movement or contributes to traffic congestion.

The shopkeepers were cautioned against placing goods outside their shops, as such actions not only inconvenience the public but also violate municipal regulations. They were warned that any such encroachments would lead to seizure of goods besides action as warranted under the provisions of the J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000.

The Jammu Municipal Corporation reiterated its commitment to maintaining civic order and ensuring the unhindered use of public spaces, and appealed for cooperation from all stakeholders in this ongoing initiative.
