KATHUA, MARCH 25: District Administration Kathua, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, organized a dedicated cultural evening for senior citizens titled “Anubhavon Ki Shaam”, the other day.

The programme featured a vibrant Bhajan Sandhya along with a series of cultural performances including skits, ghazals, devotional Karka presentations and local folklores, creating an atmosphere of joy and nostalgia for the senior citizens present on the occasion.

The highlight of the event was the performance by Awaaz Punjab Di winner Vibha Bharti, who mesmerized the audience with her soulful renditions of devotional, Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and Sufi songs.

Other local artists including Kapil Thappa and Abhinandan Khajuria also presented devotional performances. Jatin and Sorab captivated the audience with traditional devotional Karka performances, while Ajit and his group enthralled the gathering with skits and musical presentations. A ghazal performance by Shakti Arya further added to the cultural fervor of the evening.

MLA Jasrota Rajiv Jasrotia; Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma; Director Social Welfare Jammu Ranjeet Singh; GM DIC Mushtaq Chaudhary; PO ICDS Mohammed Syed; ADC Vishavjeet Singh; DSWO Varun Chaudhary; DIO Rajinder Digra and other district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the idea behind organizing such an event was to provide a dedicated platform of entertainment for senior citizens, enabling them to enjoy an evening of cultural programmes in a relaxed and joyful environment. He stated that the programme is an effort to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of senior citizens to society and to offer them moments of happiness and recreation through such initiatives.

Blankets were also distributed among the senior citizens as a gesture of care by the District Administration.
