The Canadian political landscape has been a home for the Khalistani and anti-Indian elements which are getting their due place in the political arena and the subsequent protection and immunity to carry out their anti-India activities while sitting in Canada. There has remained the matter of vote bank in play where the Canadian politicians end up providing these elements with the necessary room to carry out their illegal activities and the time has been a giant witness of the fact that Canada has been soft on groups pushing terror and other illegal activities. There have been instances where the modules—involved in drug trafficking—have been busted in Canada which had direct threads reaching India. Even a few years ago, one such racket was busted at a place where Mallik was living, however, the lack of will and patronage from the Canadian authorities paved a way for Mallik’s safe passage out of the matter. He wasn’t touched.
If analyzed deeply, there also remains the involvement of foreign agencies which have been over time funding and promoting the anti-India elements, especially the Khalistani elements in Canada, aiming largely at de-stabilizing India from within. Even some say that Mallik was killed by the ISI for hurting the Khalistani movement and if that is correct, then Canada is caught on all sides: it is letting another country work with the anti-India elements, on its soil, to spread terrorism, narco-terrorism against India—which not only is dangerous but also puts Canada, its politicians, who are projecting clean and charming image globally, in a tight spot.
Canada is answerable and accountable for whatever is being executed on its soil and while it knows the entire functioning of such elements, it better cracks a whip and ensures that such activities are halted and those behind are brought to book, or repatriated to India, wherever possible. Canada can no longer stay silent, rather it needs to act for its welfare, because the elements who could not wish good for their country, cannot ever turn out loyal to Canada. If India is at risk, so is Canada, if not today, then tomorrow.
