Srinagar: Patients at  Maharaja Hari Singh hospital (SMHS) have complained about lack of facilities including availability of beds saying they have to spend hours to find a place to stay.

Ab Gani Bhat, a patient told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that that patients had to wait for hours together to get beds in some wards.

According to him, similarly patients have to wait for hours to get trolleys in order to reach the ward.

He said that the rush of patients at the hospital has increased but they are not getting all the facilities.

Also, several patients and attendants shared the same concern insisting for increasing facilities.

A senior health official admitted the problem and said that efforts are being taken to cater to the rush of patients.

They said that around one lakh patients are visiting OPD of SMHS every month besides that all efforts to check unnecessary referrals have failed as self-referrals are prevalent and nobody can deny treatment to any patient.

On being asked about rush in the emergency ward, officials said that as Triage ward is under construction due to which emergency appears congested.

The official said the 18 bed ward will be made functional by September 15—(KNO)
