DODA, MARCH 18: A joint market checking drive was conducted today in Doda town by a team of various departments led by Executive Magistrate, Shabir Ahmed to ensure strict enforcement of market regulations and safeguard consumer interests.

The inspection team comprised TSO Doda City D.S. Bhutyal, Dr. Shahnawaz from the Poultry Department, Sadiq Ahmed, Supervisor from Sheep Husbandry Department, PSI Shonalika along with a police party.

During the drive, a total of 11 defaulters were identified and fined on the spot, with a penalty amounting to Rs. 5,700. Two shops were found in possession of expired food items, which were immediately confiscated and later destroyed by the concerned department to prevent any risk to public health.

In a separate violation, one shopkeeper was booked and fined Rs. 1,000 for overcharging customers.

The team also issued strict instructions to all shopkeepers to refrain from using domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes, warning that violations would attract penalties and seizure of goods.

Emphasis was laid on maintaining hygiene, quality standards and adherence to regulations by all establishments, including mutton shops, vegetable vendors, dairy outlets, dhabas and general stores.
