GANDERBAL, APRIL 23: In a major push to strengthen the campaign against drug abuse, the Sub-Divisional Administration Kangan today organized a mega Nasha Mukt awareness rally and street play at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Kangan.
The event was part of the ongoing 100-day “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan” aimed at fostering a drug-free society and educating the youth about the devastating effects of narcotics.
The proceedings commenced with a massive rally that started from the Government Degree College Kangan and culminated at the Higher Secondary School premises.
The rally was led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sheikh Salahuddin, alongside Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kangan, Nazir Ahmad Bhat, and Chief Education Officer, Oneel Kumar Bhat. A large number of officers and officials from various departments, personnel from the police department, and enthusiastic students from multiple schools across the sub-division participated in the march, carrying banners and chanting slogans to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
To further the message of the campaign, impactful skits were performed by the students of Islamic Revival High School Kangan, Kids Cottage High School Wussan, and Sheikh Ul Alam Public High School. The performances vividly depicted the social and physical consequences of drug addiction, drawing significant appreciation from the audience for their emotional depth and clarity.
Sheikh Ul Alam Public High School clinched the first position for their creative contributions to the awareness program.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Revenue emphasized the collective responsibility of the administration, educators, and parents in protecting the younger generation from the menace of substance abuse. He highlighted that such initiatives are crucial for building a resilient community and ensuring a brighter future for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
The police department also participated in the rally, and officers present at the event reiterated their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug peddling, urging the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to break the supply chain of illicit substances in the region.
The event concluded with a formal pledge ceremony administered by SDM Kangan, where all participants committed themselves to stay away from drugs and contribute actively towards a drug-free nation.
Following the pledge, a felicitation ceremony was held to honor and encourage the students who participated in the skits and other awareness activities, recognizing their role as ambassadors of change in the sub-division.
