Bandipora, Aug 07: At the times when the younger generation loses interest in mother tongue across the valley, the young 33 Rizwan Yousuf, a health worker from Bandipora is sparking a renewed interest in Kashmiri language through his poetry.

Speaking with the Kashmir News Service, Rizwan Yousuf Mir, a dedicated health worker from Bandipora said that he started writing Poetry in Kashmiri language in 2005 and till date he has penned 700 poems in Kashmiri language.

He also said that the absence of resources left them incomplete and became a hindrance in his way to publishing his poetry.

His work encompasses various traditional themes, including Mankabat (praise of saints), Arzi (petitions), and Muqam (spiritual stations), reflecting his versatility and deep understanding of the genre.

“Kashmir valley is known as valley of sofi saints, since my childhood days i used to read several books related to sufism which sparks my interest in that and i started writing the poems related to that,” he said.

He added that it is important to have literature in our own mother tongue, Kashmiri language is our identity and we should be proud to be a Kashmiri.

Despite his prolific output, Mir has yet to publish a book, a dream he hopes to realize soon. His poetry remains largely known within local circles, but it has the potential to resonate with a broader audience.
