Modi’s Diwali Gift —- J&K Needs Special Attention!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come up with a Diwali gift to the people of the country by announcing a mega job fair starting tomorrow during which nearly 10 lakh jobs—spread across over 30 ministries, and departments of the Government of India—are going to be provided. Employment generation has been the prime focus of the Government and it has been projecting it as the biggest issue which was never addressed by any of the previous Governments. On top of it, despite having scores of vacancies, steps were never taken to fill the same earlier, but now, are we looking at a big change initiated?

The irony in this is that while the opposition failed in the employment generation or notifying the available vacancies, for that matter, it was seen coming down heavily on the Government for failing in doing so. But now, their criticism has fallen flat with the announcement of the Government to hold the mega job fair. The Government by announcing it has not only countered the criticism of the opposition but has also fortified itself in poll-bound Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat—where the BJP will now fight on a different level and turf, leaving little room for the opposition parties.

The step also sheds a light on what can be done if there is willingness. It was in June this year when the PM directed various ministries to identify vacancies and ensure that 10 lakh recruitments are made in a mission mode. The same could have been done by other Governments which this country had before, but they could not, because they had everything but willingness. The PM has once again shown that he knows how to do it and if he is determined to get anything done, he will make sure it happens: instead of blame game, PM’s actions have shown that he believes in delivery achieved through continuous and collective efforts.

At the same time, a strong message has been sent out to the people across India that the current dispensation believes in delivery and fulfilling the promises that have been made. In this scenario, the hopes of the people of J&K are high; they are expecting special attention and treatment from the Government this time in the upcoming mega job fair because, no matter, things have changed in the UT, on the employment front, there has not been much to talk about, rather, there have been events that have discouraged the youngsters to a great extent, especially recruitment scams that have come to the fore in the last some time. Keeping in view such a scenario, there is hope and high expectations that this time that J&K will get special treatment by Modi-Government by making sure that more and more jobs come the UT’s way, and the youngsters who have been running from pillar to post in the search of employment for the last several years now, will finally find a place, which would pave a way for their lifetime welfare and sustained socio-economic growth: something that youth of J&K deserve.
