PULWAMA, AUGUST 04: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, district administration Pulwama today conducted a series of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) camps across various panchayats in the district.
These awareness programmes were aimed at sensitising the local population, particularly the youth, about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Resource persons from various departments informed participants about the physical, mental, and social consequences of substance addiction. They also highlighted the importance of early detection, timely counselling, community involvement, and the vital role of families in prevention and rehabilitation.
To enhance public outreach, a wide range of IEC materials such as brochures, posters, leaflets, and pamphlets were distributed among the attendees. These materials highlighted key messages on drug prevention, helpline numbers, and the availability of district-level support mechanisms. Participants were encouraged to act as agents of change within their communities by spreading awareness and promoting healthy lifestyles.
The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from frontline departments including Health, Education, Social Welfare, Rural Development, and Police. Self Help Groups (SHGs), civil society members, students, teachers, ASHA workers, and youth volunteers also took active part in the sessions.
The campaign will continue in the coming days through similar awareness programmes in educational institutions, urban areas, and remaining panchayats, ensuring that the message of Nasha Mukt Abhiyan reaches every corner of the district.
