SAMBA, AUGUST 07: The Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom, Jammu, in collaboration with the Handloom Development Department, Samba, celebrated National Handloom Day at the DC Office Complex Samba, showcasing the region’s rich weaving traditions.

Deputy Commissioner Samba Rajesh Sharma, the Chief Guest, lauded the exceptional craftsmanship of local weavers and highlighted the sector’s role in preserving cultural heritage and generating sustainable livelihoods.

He assured continued administrative support for artisans through capacity-building, training programmes and strong market linkages.

A series of vibrant stalls set up by local artisans and cooperative societies displayed a wide range of handloom and handicraft products. A live weaving demonstration by a master weaver offered visitors a unique insight into traditional techniques. The AYUSH Department also participated by setting up a wellness and awareness stall.
