DODA JANUARY 20: A meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was held today here at the DC Office Complex, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh.

The meeting brought together officials from law enforcement agencies, health departments, and other stakeholders to strategize efforts to combat drug abuse and ensure a drug-free society. The DC emphasized the urgency of combating the menace of drug addiction and outlined a multi-pronged approach to tackle the issue effectively.

The meeting decided to strengthen inter-departmental coordination under the NCORD framework to disrupt drug trafficking networks and reduce the prevalence of drug abuse in the district. Officials were directed to enhance surveillance in vulnerable areas, intensify checks on drug peddlers, and establish a robust information-sharing mechanism among law enforcement agencies. The DC highlighted the importance of targeted actions against offenders and ensuring the accountability of all stakeholders in the fight against narcotics.

To engage the community, the administration will organize awareness campaigns in schools, colleges, and communities, educating the youth about the dangers of drug addiction. Rehabilitation programs for individuals affected by drug abuse were also prioritized, with a focus on reintegrating them into society through counseling and skill development. The DC also encouraged active community participation, urging parents, teachers, and local leaders to contribute to preventive measures.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that addressing the issue of drug abuse is not just a legal responsibility but also a moral obligation. He called upon all stakeholders to work collectively toward a healthier and safer society, emphasizing that the well-being and future of the youth depend on eliminating the scourge of drugs. This meeting demonstrated the administration’s firm resolve to combat drug abuse and create a secure environment for the people of Doda.
