KUPWARA, JUNE 17: Municipal Committee Handwara, in collaboration with various stakeholders, organized a comprehensive awareness program today at Town Hall Handwara under the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ (NMBA).

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior citizens, students, officials, healthcare professionals, and members of civil society.

The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about the alarming consequences of drug addiction and to mobilize community support for a drug-free society.

Students from multiple schools actively engaged in thought-provoking discussions, sharing their views on the social and psychological impacts of substance abuse and highlighting the significance of youth-led awareness.

Officers and officials from Revenue and police departments addressed the gathering, underlining the collective responsibility of parents, educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, and the district administration in combating the menace of drug abuse. They stressed on the need for community vigilance, early intervention, and rehabilitation support.

Medical professionals from GMC Handwara provided valuable insights into the health hazards associated with drug addiction and offered guidance on treatment and support mechanisms.

Representatives from the Traders’ Federation, Transport Unions, and various civil society organizations also participated in the event, pledging their full support towards the vision of a drug-free Handwara.

The program concluded with a strong message of unity and commitment to continue spreading awareness and strengthening preventive measures at the grassroots level.
